Treatment, monitoring and disease diagnosis work has begun after symptoms similar to cholera were observed in cows, buffaloes and goats in the Kimaula area of Bhageshwor Rural Municipality-4 in Dadeldhura.

According to the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Service Expert Center, Dadeldhura, the animals have shown symptoms such as increased body temperature, excessive salivation, sores inside the mouth (tongue and gums), and sores between the hooves, causing lameness. The center's chief senior veterinarian, Devraj Bhatta, informed that since the symptoms were initially similar to those of distemper, samples collected from the animals have been sent to Kathmandu for testing to confirm the disease. He said that until confirmation is available, all control measures have been taken keeping in mind the possible risks.

The center has urged people to isolate and treat sick animals to prevent the spread of the disease, not to bring sick animals into grazing areas, to be vigilant in the movement of animals and animal products in the diseased areas and border areas until the disease is controlled, and to stop the sale and distribution.

Similarly, livestock keepers have been requested to help vaccinate animals coming from areas where the disease has not been seen so far. The Veterinary Hospital and Animal Service Expert Center, Dadeldhura, has stated that it will continue its disease control and surveillance work in coordination with the local level and livestock farmers.
