Shuklaphanta National Park has opened its gates to the public. The park office has provided a facility for residents of the buffer zone to collect and export grass from the park area for two days.
Purushottam Wagle, the park's information officer, informed that the clearing has been opened so that the park can be cleaned and that the economically weak residents of the buffer zone can have hay to make their homes.
According to him, entry will be allowed for the western sector of the park on Magh 22 and 23 and the eastern sector on Poush 25 only with a ticket of Rs 50. Entry for clearing will be allowed from 7 am to 5 pm.
The park office has stated that the Nepali Army and park staff will be mobilized to control poaching during clearing. 'The clearing not only manages the dry grass inside the park but also meets the needs of the residents of the buffer zone,' said Wagle, the park's information officer, 'The clearing facilitates the management of the grasslands.'
The park has been spending a lot on the management of the grasslands every year. In some places, weeding has made grassland management easier.
