The sensitivity of polling stations has been determined based on a review of past elections, communication, transportation accessibility, and security conditions.
Out of 129 polling stations in Baitadi, 33 have been placed on the list of highly sensitive ones.
The District Security Committee had classified the polling stations into three categories based on security, namely highly sensitive, sensitive and normal, and recommended them to the center.
As per the recommendation of the security committee, the center has listed 33 highly sensitive, 28 sensitive and 68 normal polling stations, informed District Police Spokesperson Police Inspector Suraj Singh. He said that security will be managed according to the classification of the polling stations.
The sensitivity of the polling stations has been decided based on a review of past elections, communication, transport accessibility and security conditions.
Chief District Officer Punya Bikram Poudel said that keeping in mind the upcoming elections, the local administration is working on a security plan by looking at the conditions of the polling stations.
‘Work is underway to monitor and inspect polling stations in remote areas of the district,’ he said, ‘discussions are also being held with the local levels on issues such as improving the roads leading to polling stations that are accessible by dirt roads.’
In Baitadi, which has a single constituency, 129 polling stations and 214 polling centers have been set up for the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
