The case of one absconding defendant, Lokendra Jung Shahi, has been postponed, while seven others have been acquitted.
The Kailali District Court on Tuesday sentenced six people, including Naveen Rawal, accused in the Bhupendra Baduwal murder case, to life imprisonment.
The district court has sentenced Aryan Devkota, Roshan Bahadur Shahi, Chiranjeevi Shahi alias Arnuj, Rohit Ale and Himal Shahi to life imprisonment along with Rawal.
Baduwal, 23, of Lamkichuha Municipality-1 in Kailali, known as the Baduwal murder case, was murdered in Tikapur Municipality-1 on 23 Kartik 2078 BS. Based on the investigation conducted by the police, the District Attorney's Office had filed a case of manslaughter against 21 people in the district court on 26 Falgun 2078 BS.
In the same case, Hemant Shahi, Madan Shahi, Dipendra Shahi, Nisant Malla and Sohan Shah were sentenced to life imprisonment and Lokendra Kunwar and Samirjung Shahi were sentenced to life imprisonment as per the charges, informed Pankaj Upadhyay, Information Officer of the Kailali Court.
Seven people have been acquitted. Ashok Rawal, Mahesh Rawal, Jayendra Shah, Bikash Khadka, Praveen Rimal, Bikash Sherchan Thakali and Kapil Shrestha have been acquitted. The case of one absconding defendant, Lokendra Jung Shahi, has been adjourned.
