A team of stakeholders, including Chief District Officer Punya Bikram Poudel, has inspected the establishment of an area administration office in Melauli. ‘If the federal government ensures budget and staff, we will immediately start the service including citizenship distribution,’ he said. ‘If there is no such arrangement from the federal government, we will immediately establish an office even if it is in the district and provide the national identity card service.’

The government had decided a few days ago to establish area administration offices in four places in the far west, including Melauli in Baitadi. The team has inspected the potential locations to implement the same decision.

He said that the building where the eye treatment center is located in Melauli Bazaar and the cottage and small industry office were inspected. After the establishment of the area administration office, the people of the Swarad region will no longer have to pay expensive rent to go to the district headquarters to obtain citizenship.
