Bedkot Municipality has declared a week-long holiday for schools as the cold wave continues to intensify.

The municipality has announced that it has decided to give a holiday to schools from Monday to December 21.

‘It has been decided to give a holiday for a week due to the cold and the President's Running Shield competition,’ said Padma Raj Bhatta, head of the municipality's education department. ‘Only 25 days have been spent out of the 45 days allotted, so we have given the holiday to be deducted from that.’

The cold has increased significantly in the western Terai for the past few days due to the cold wave. Children and the elderly have been most affected by the cold.
