Amargadhi Municipality of Dadeldhura has honored senior citizens from poor families.

On the occasion of the fifth National Senior Citizens Day, on Friday, the Women and Children's Branch of the municipality organized a felicitation ceremony for six senior citizens from Ward No. 7 and 8.

According to the municipality's Social Development Officer Lal Bahadur Saud, the felicitation ceremony was held with the aim of inspiring and giving morale to senior citizens facing difficulties in daily life. As a token of respect, each senior citizen was given Rs. 2,500, a dosalla and a health drink.

Amargadhi Municipality has taken forward a plan to operate a 'Senior Citizen Home' within the municipal area in the coming days, informed the Social Development Officer Saud.

Preparations are being made to create an environment in the home to keep senior citizens active and happy through regular provision of midday meals, yoga, entertainment programs, cultural activities and musical instruments.

Senior citizens participating in the program said that they were encouraged by the interest shown towards them and that their self-esteem increased as their experience and identity were accepted in the society.
