The local administration has formed a committee to investigate the incident of a clash between prisoners and a prison warden inside Kanchanpur Prison two days ago. Eight prisoners were injured in the clash that broke out last Friday after a dispute between prisoners and a prison warden inside the prison.
Two of the injured have returned to the prison, while six are undergoing treatment at the Mahakali Provincial Hospital. Chief District Officer Laxman Dhakal informed that a three-member investigation committee has been formed under the coordination of Assistant Chief District Officer Mohan Chandra Joshi to understand the truth behind the incident in the prison.
The committee includes Deputy Superintendent of Police Sagar Bohara of the District Police Office and Administrative Officer Dharmaraj Upadhyay of the District Administration Office. Chief District Officer Dhakal informed that the committee has been given seven days to investigate.
Dhakal said, "We are going to monitor the prison today as well. The committee will submit a detailed investigation report on the incident." The prisoners had been protesting here, alleging that the leaders monopolized the prison. The prisoners have accused the leaders of manipulating the services and facilities they receive and of engaging in illegal activities inside the prison.
