A fine of Rs 50,000 has been imposed for cutting down trees in Sirad Community Forest, Jorayal Rural Municipality-4, Doti.

Local Bhakta Bahadur Pun Magar has fined the forest group Rs 50,000 after eight trees of different sizes were cut down in the community forest. 

Locals said that forest group chairman Yogendra Gurung had ordered the trees to be cut down in collusion, but this was not found, according to the Division Forest Office, Doti. Gokul Rijal, Divisional Forest Officer, Doti, said that the group has collected a fine of Rs 50,000 as per the forest group's statute and action plan since eight trees of different sizes were found to have been cut down in the community forest area.

Similarly, community forest group chairman Gurung has said that he has no involvement in the tree cutting. He has clarified that the fine has been collected from the locals who cut down the trees.
