Patan Municipality-9 Ward of Baitadi has distributed blankets to senior citizens and single women of the ward. As per the approved budget for the current fiscal year, warm clothes (blankets) have been distributed to senior citizens and single women above the age of 60 permanently residing in the ward.
Ward chair Kalusingh Bhat said that blankets were distributed to 137 senior citizens and 57 single women in the ward with a budget of 350,000 rupees for the current fiscal year. “Although this blanket is not enough, it is a respect for them,” he said. “We have distributed it in a way that it is not repeated in the same household.”
Ward member Prem Bhat said that the annual budget was allocated for blanket distribution because most people cannot afford to buy warm clothes due to their poor financial condition.
Senior citizen Ansingh Bhat said that he was happy that the ward understood their feelings and provided blankets during the cold season. “This blanket given to us does not only prevent the cold,” he said. “This is also a respect for the ward.”
The ward stated that blankets were distributed to senior citizens and single women during a program on Sunday, including the mayor of the municipality, Gauri Rawal.
