Police have arrested a prisoner who had escaped from Nakkhu Prison in Lalitpur on Tuesday from Pulghat area in Darchula district headquarters. According to the District Police Office, Darchula, 23-year-old Deepak Chand of Malikarjun Rural Municipality-7, Darchula district, who is serving a sentence of 25 years in prison and a fine of Rs 100,000, was arrested from Pulghat area.
A patrol team deployed from the District Police Office, Darchula arrested him at 11 am while he was walking suspiciously, said Devendra Singh Budhathoki, joint spokesperson of Darchula police.
According to the police, the Darchula District Court had sentenced Chand to 25 years in prison and a fine of Rs 100,000 in a case of 2078 BS on 2080 BS. Chand, who was serving his sentence in Nakkhu Prison, had escaped from the Nakkhu Prison on 24 Bhadra during the Gen-G movement that took place across the country on 23 and 24 Bhadra, 2082 BS. Police have said that Chand has been arrested and sent to Darchula Jail.
