The Baitadi Prison Office has stated that they have been transferred to prisons in Dadeldhura, Darchula, Bajhang, and Banke.
The prisoners and detainees in Baitadi Prison have been transferred. The prisoners and detainees here have been transferred to different prisons as the dilapidated building is being rebuilt.
A total of 53 prisoners and 6 detainees have been transferred to prisons in Dadeldhura, Darchula, Bajhang and Banke, informed Dhara Bhandari, the chief of the Baitadi Prison Office.
6 prisoners and 3 detainees have been transferred to Darchula Prison, 9 detainees to Bajhang, 14 detainees to Dadeldhura and 27 detainees to Naubasta Prison in Banke, he said. There were 59 detainees in the prison, which has a total capacity of 25 detainees. Baitadi Prison has stated that a new detention center with a capacity of 85 will be constructed.
'An agreement has been reached between the Intensive Cooperative and Building Construction Project Office, Doti and the construction company,' he said, 'The work order has also been received. Work will begin within the next one or two days.'
A budget of Rs 100 million has been allocated for the construction of the detention center. The Intensive Cooperative and Building Construction Project Office, Doti, has stated that an agreement has been signed with KKJ Kalika SB JV for Rs. 79.771 million. The target is to complete the construction by Asad 15, 2084. Prison Chief Bhandari said that it is believed that the management of prisoners will become easier after the construction of the new prison.
