Government and non-governmental organizations working in the health sector in the Far Western Province have made a 13-point common commitment.
The 13-point Rajpur Commitment Letter was made public at the concluding session of the Integrated Annual Review Program of the Health Sector, which was being conducted at the Health Directorate, Rajpur Doti since Friday.
The commitment letter, prepared with the participation of the Federal Ministry of Health and Population, the Ministry of Social Development of the Far West Province, provincial and district health agencies, development partner organizations and stakeholders in the health sector, mentions that the internal control system will be further improved to reduce the waste of health agencies under the provincial government.
The commitment letter mentions that at least 40 percent of people in each district will be provided with access to health insurance to reduce out-of-pocket expenses for treatment, that all employees of the provincial government will be taken to take the initiative to provide health insurance, and that all 88 municipalities will be provided with conditional grants as per the provincial law for safe maternity and reproductive health of economically disadvantaged women.
'Ensure year-round availability of free medicines and medical supplies to be provided by health agencies under the provincial government,' the commitment letter states, 'To gradually expand telemedicine/consultant services at strategic health posts with laboratories to increase access to specialist health services at the local level.'
The commitment letter includes topics such as expanding the rural ultrasound program, improving the physical infrastructure of Ayurveda health centers for screening for early identification, diagnosis and treatment of malnutrition problems.
Far Western Province Health Director Khagendra Bam said that the commitment letter should be implemented by all agencies and individuals in the health sector.
He said that the implementation status of this commitment will also be reviewed in the annual review program of the current fiscal year.
