They have started a sit-in in front of the District Administration Office in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-1, Kailali, and at the Ministry of Social Development of the Far Western Province Government.
Health workers at private hospitals have staged a sit-in in Dhangadhi demanding minimum wages, additional allowances, and services and facilities as per legal provisions.
They have started a sit-in at the District Administration Office, Kailali, located in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-1, and at the Ministry of Social Development of the Sudurpaschim Province Government. The sit-in was jointly organized by private hospitals.
They have demanded an end to labor exploitation and oppression of health workers and compliance with the legal provisions regarding minimum wages, additional allowances, service facilities, and appointments and contracts set by the government. They also demand that original educational certificates not be kept in the office, that work experience certificates be made mandatory, and that wages be distributed only through the banking system.
During the sit-in, Mangal Bahadur Shahi, Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development, met with representatives of the Health Institution Management Organization 'Afhim'. He said that the demands of the health workers were reasonable and assured that he would take the initiative to implement the minimum wages set by the Nepal Government and arrange additional allowances.
The health workers have warned that they will stage a phased protest until their demands are met.
