Gen-ji of Kailali has a mixed perception towards the government

What you should know

A month has passed since the Gen-G movement on August 23 and the protests that broke out across the country the next day brought a new wave to Nepal's politics.

An interim government was also formed to address the demands of the Genji generation on the strength of the movement of this generation, which took to the streets with the voice of dissatisfaction and change towards the old political style. Now there is a mixed opinion among the youth about this government which was formed by itself. The government formed in the expectation of addressing the demands raised by the youth who led the movement has one hope and another edge of doubt among the Gen-ji youth of Kailali.

Some of the youths are disappointed that the government has not seen any concrete initiative in that direction even after months have passed, while some have seen a glimmer of hope . Some of the youth are saying that the government is responsible to the citizens, while some of them have expressed their disappointment thinking that the mandate of the movement has been neglected.

Some of the different groups of Genji are saying that the government is committed to the demands of Genji, while some are accusing them of overshadowing their demands. But all the groups are arguing that the interim government has backed down on the demand that the assets of people who became prime ministers, ministers, and parliamentarians should be investigated after 2046 and that there should be a directly elected executive head.

Gen-G Pawan Sunar of Kailali complains that the government has not been able to work according to the mandate of the protesting parties. He says, "This government has not been able to work according to the mandate of the protesting party". There is no interest in the main demands of the movement, the demands of the injured have not been fulfilled, the families of the martyrs have been ignored. He also pointed out the fact that the Prime Minister could not complete the cabinet for a month as a weakness of the government.
According to him, citizens have not been able to feel the change because the speed of the government's work is slow. "It seems that the government has not understood the essence of the movement," he said.

24-year-old Sarita Joshi suggests that the government should abandon the party-opposition thinking and move forward by collaborating with political parties and youth involved in the movement. The current government seems to be more focused on election preparations. Sometimes it is felt that the demands of the agitating parties are being overshadowed," she said, "When the country is in crisis, cooperation is needed. Together with everyone, this government should give a new political solution to the country.'

Gaurab Khadka of Gen-G Group says that for the first time since he was born, he feels that there is a government for the people. "I never felt like there was a government for the people. But during the rains of October 18-20, the activity shown by the government in disaster reduction was commendable . At that time, for the first time, I felt that the government was working for the people in the true sense. Qualified people have been placed in the right place, as if by magic, all the demands will not be fulfilled now. The government is working and the results are yet to be seen," he said.

Khadka says that he will be too hasty to criticize the government now. But he complains that the government is not active in the agenda of corruption control and direct executive head. Despite the fact that the demands of the families of the injured and martyrs cannot be addressed immediately, the youth seem pessimistic towards this government . Jen-ji from Kailali suggests the government to understand the sentiments of the martyr's family and take necessary steps.

Gen-G Nrip Vishwakarma advised the government to be sensitive to the victims of the movement saying that the government has gone beyond the mandate of the movement. He says, "This government is not allowed to go beyond the mandate of the Gen-G movement". Otherwise, unrest may spread in the country again . The demands of the injured and martyred families should be addressed immediately.'

Similarly, another Gen-G Santosh Pant argued that the government has neglected the original agenda of the movement even though it has tried to do some good. According to Pant, the government has overshadowed other important agendas and increased the distance with the political parties by emphasizing on the preparations for the elections. "The beautiful part of democracy is multi-party. The interim government has no choice but to cooperate with Genji and all political parties. Only then will the country get an exit," he said, "Jen-ji of Kathmandu is not the only one who rebelled. It seems that other provinces have been ignored . Everyone's demands should be included.'' Pant Kailali is the Swaviyu president elected by the New Union in the versatile campus.
