According to the police, firecrackers worth 29 lakhs were seized from Bhimdatta Municipality-3 near Mahendranagar market in Kanchanpur.
Different types of firecrackers were found in the house of local Khadak Bahadur Pal. The district police office has destroyed the recovered crackers on Sunday.
SP Khadak Bahadur Khatri of District Police Office Kanchanpur said that Pal, the owner of the house, was also arrested. According to him, the recovered crackers are common explosives.
"Investigation is being carried out on where the said firecrackers came from, where they were going to take them," he said, "due to the open border, it is assumed that they may have come from India." According to the said act, in case of trading and production of ordinary explosives, imprisonment for up to 3 years and a fine of up to 30,000 have been prescribed.
