There is no enthusiasm for Dussehra in the village: Chataro to bring in the crops to the farmers

There is no Dussehra activity in the village of Baitadi. Farmers seem busy with farming. Farmers are in a hurry to bring in their crops even before Dasain.

Now is the time to ripen maize, millet, paddy planted with maize, maduro, bajur and soybean in Baitadi's paddy fields. In the irrigated fields, kaguno and the rice planted in May are also ripe.

Farmers here are now more interested in bringing in these crops than the fun of Dasain. Farmers have become busy in raising their crops due to the fear of rotting due to further delay in picking the crops after rains during Dasain.

'Dasain's fun is only for two-three days, if these two-three days of fun are missed to bring in farming, then there may be a situation where we have to buy and eat all year round,' said Jantara Bhatt, a farmer of Melauli Municipality-5. "We have broken the corn cobs and dried them, we have started cutting millet and bajur," she said. He said, "We have no feeling of Dasain. We have to harvest the corn, millet and rice of the field as well. We have no feeling of Dasain. For us farmers, this Dasai is the best time to bring in the crops we have planted. He also says that if he rejoices in Dasain, it will be too late to plow for wheat in the rain-fed fields. "We just brought in the paddy in the evening," he said, "Now we have to plow the field and collect the straw, there is no time to enjoy." In the last financial year, 13,838 metric tons of rice, 18,584 metric tons of maize, 485 metric tons of millet and 18 metric tons of kaguno were produced. Similarly, the data of Krishi Gyankendra Baitadi has produced 23,931 metric tons of wheat and 989 metric tons of barley.
