3 days public holiday in Apihimal for bire caste

A 3-day public holiday has been given for the long journey in Apihimal Rural Municipality. On the occasion of Surma Bhawani 'Bire Jaat', which will be held in Apihimal Rural Municipality-3, a public holiday has been given for three days throughout the rural municipality, according to the rural municipality.

Indra Bahadur Rawal, the chief administrative officer of the rural municipality, said that on the occasion of the 'Bire Jaat' of Surma Bhawani, which runs from Apihimal's Kshetti, Ghanjir to Bajhang's Surmasarovar, all the offices under the municipality have been given a three-day public holiday today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. Surmabhawani Jatra, which is celebrated as the biggest Jatra in the district, started from 18th of July.

According to religious beliefs, the bires who went to celebrate Jatra from Saun Aunsi sat separately. Gagansinh Karki, Ward President of Apihimal Rural Municipality-3, said that although it starts from Aunsi, it is celebrated with grandeur from Dashami Tithi as a special festival. Located in the midst of high snow ranges, the lake is important from religious touristic and cultural point of view.

According to Ward President Karki, there is a religious belief that Surma Bhawani merged with Surma Lake when hunters from Bajhang chased it. He said that for the same reason, pilgrims coming from Bajhang perform the puja only after worshiping in the lake.
