Two employees, including the son of Mayor Vijaysingh Dhami of Shailyashikhar Municipality, have been arrested on charges of forging government documents and criminal treachery.
Among those arrested are Deepak Raj Bista, head of the agriculture branch of the municipality, and Janaksingh Dhami, a veterinary technician.
Janaksingh is the son of Nagar chief Vijaysingh Dhami. Chhatra Bahadur Rawal, Information Officer of District Police Office Darchula, said that they were arrested on Wednesday with permission from the District Court.
According to him, they are being investigated for forgery and forgery of government documents. Agriculture branch chief Bista and veterinary technician Dhami had prepared false documents by showing dead Janaki Dhami and secretary Manju Dhami, treasurer of Malikarjun Agua Farmers Group.
The incident came to light when preparations were being made to withdraw funds from the 'Okhar Pocket Area' program by activating the dormant bank account of the group. The head of the agriculture branch, Bista, wrote to the Global IME Bank, Gokuleshwar branch, requesting that the signatures of Chairman Janaksingh Dhami and Secretary Basanti Bohra be validated instead of Janki and Manju from the group's account.
