6 people stranded on the island of Godavari river in Godavari municipality have been rescued safely.
They were rescued by the joint efforts of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepali Army. They had gone to the river to perform Shraddha and got stuck in the middle due to a sudden flood due to rain.
According to the Malakheti area police office, among those who were rescued are 65-year-old Pallu Sarki, 65-year-old Bhageshwari Sarki, 12-year-old Yogesh Sarki, 35-year-old Vikat Sarki, 35-year-old Veer Sarki and 28-year-old Abdul Sarki of Bedkot Municipality-07.
After the incident, security agencies were mobilized on time, so there was no human loss. Upon receiving information that people are trapped Kailali Chief District Officer Gogan Bahadur Hamal, Kailali Chief Superintendent of Police Balnarsingh Rana and Godavari Municipality Mayor Birendra Bhatt reached the incident site.
