Corona infection has been observed in 33 people from January to Monday this year in Far West. Out of which 31 people have recovered and 2 people are in active infection which lasts for 7 days.

The Regional Health Emergency Action Center has said that after the corona infection started to appear in India, special priority has been given to the health examination of suspected persons entering Nepal at the health desks located at the borders of various districts of the province. Health desks were already operating at the border during the Corona epidemic in the province.

In Kailali, tests for corona and other infectious diseases are conducted at health desks located at Trinagar and Khakraula of Dhangadhi, Gaddachouki of Kanchanpur, Zhulaghat of Baitadi and Pulghat of Darchula and Joljivi crossing. In recent days, most of the corona infected people have entered through the Trinagar crossing of Dhangadhi.

According to the data of the health desk at Trinagar Naka, out of 429 suspected persons who were tested for antigen from May 21 to June 22, 31 including 24 men and 7 women were found to be corona infected. Vishal Bhatt, a health worker at the health desk, said that the remaining 2 people were found at Gaddachouki checkpoint in Kanchanpur.

According to Ganesh Saud, the health desk in-charge of Trinagar Naka, among those returning home from different cities from India, only suspected people who have fever and cold health problems are currently being tested. Initially, there was a shortage of test kits, the health workers of the desks say that the kits are available at all health desks so that the tests do not stop.

The Regional Health Emergency Operation Center of Sudurpaschim Province has been handling and managing the situation of corona, dengue and other diseases, supply of medicine and test kits and deployment of health workers. According to Hemraj Joshi, the center's epidemic disaster contact person, the kits required for corona testing are being obtained from the Central Supply Division and the Provincial Health Supply Division. He said that Corona has appeared sporadically. But he said that since dengue has spread in almost all the districts of Far West, more precautions should be taken for prevention.

In almost all the districts of Sudurpaschim Province, 167 people have been found positive for dengue since last January. As mentioned in the daily bulletin of the Health Emergency Operations Center on Monday, the highest number of dengue cases have been observed in Dadeldhura, a hilly district of the province.

Similarly, 31 dengue cases were reported in Kailali, 29 in Kanchanpur, 25 in Doti, 24 in Achham, 11 in Bajhang and 2 in Darchula. According to Joshi, the Epidemic and Disaster Liaison Person of the Center, there is a danger of increasing the risk of dengue infection due to the unfavorable weather of summer and rain. Joshi says that in addition to the preparations by the government agencies for dengue prevention, emphasis should be placed on the implementation of public awareness programs on mosquito control from the civil level and local bodies and related health organizations.
