2 thousand 194 people have taken work permit from Dadeldhura for foreign employment in 10 months of the current financial year. Government data shows that the number of foreigners is increasing due to lack of skills and correct information.

Although the attraction towards foreign employment is high, Nepali youth are facing problems due to lack of necessary skills, legal information and awareness. This data was made public in an interaction held by the Amargadhi Municipality of Dadeldhura with media persons under the Safe Migration (SAMI) program on Thursday. Speaking at the

event, Amargadhi Municipality's employment coordinator Lakshmi Prasad Awasthi said that the number of young people facing fraud, legal confusion and brokers' nets in the name of foreign employment is increasing. He opined that it is necessary to extend access to information and services related to foreign employment to the villages. Sami program officer Bishnu Aryal mentioned that many Nepalis become victims abroad due to lack of information and informed that legal services, skill development training, psychosocial counseling and financial literacy services are being provided through the program. He said that cooperation between all three levels of government is indispensable to secure foreign employment.

36 thousand 8 people from Sudurpaschim province have taken work permit from 20th to 30th of the current financial year. Among them, 2 thousand 194 people have taken permission from Dadeldhura only. The number of people who have taken labor permits for foreign employment from other districts of Far West is as follows. Acham 6 thousand 828, Baitadi 4 thousand 888, Bajhang 2 thousand 957, Bajura 2 thousand 543, Darchula 2 thousand 361, Doti 1 thousand 84, Kailali 7 thousand 74 and Kanchanpur 6 thousand 79.

However, the situation of those who go for foreign employment is not easy. In the financial year 2080/81 alone, 1,346 people lost their lives while working abroad, while 690 people returned home due to amputations.

4 thousand 358 complaints have been registered in the Foreign Employment Department, of which only 1 thousand 620 have been resolved. Similarly, out of 3,405 complaints filed in district administration offices across the country, only 2,217 have been resolved.
