The Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment of the Far West Province Government, Galang Narayan Koirala has said that the highest budget of the province government is allocated for the construction of temples and embankments. He also said that he is not satisfied with the budget management.

Speaking on the occasion of the conclusion of the 'Tour Package Development' training organized by Nepal Tour and Travel Association (Natta) Sudurpaschim for tourism professionals in Mahendranagar on Saturday, Secretary Koirala mentioned that 90 percent of the budget of the state government has been spent on embankments and temples. 'There should not be too much protest about this,' he said, 'I am not satisfied with the budget management.' "Where the government has not been able to do anything, the government should proceed according to the feeling that something should be done," he said, "Tourism business should be able to become the basis for developing economic infrastructure."  While speaking, most of the participants of the

program accused the government of Far West Province of not allocating the necessary budget for the development of the tourism sector.

Central Vice President of Homestay Business Federation of Nepal, Lakshminarayan Choudhary of Kailali said that although homestays have been operating since 2067 for tourism promotion, the relevant ministry of the province has not allocated a single cent of budget. And, the budget goes for the temple in each ward, but there was no attempt to connect the tourist area with livelihood,'' he said.

He said that the budget of the provincial ministry is insufficient to connect the tourism sector financially.

In the training that was conducted for 3 days, Mayaprakash Bhatta, founder president of NATA Sudurpaschim, informed that an office of Nepal Tourism Board will be established in Sudurpaschim in the coming financial year. He said that for the development of tourism infrastructure in Far West, joint initiative and investment of government and private sector is necessary.

President of Nata Sudurupaschim Pawan Bikram Singh also mentioned that there is very little budget allocation from the state government for the development of the tourism sector.  40 tourism professionals from different districts of Far West participated in the

training.
