The budget for the next financial year 082/083 by the Far West Province government was set to be presented in the provincial assembly at 5 pm on Sunday, but it was pushed back for two hours after the preparations were not completed.

Disagreement has arisen between the ruling Congress and UML ministers over the size of the budget and the inclusion of plans since Saturday night. Due to the fact that the budget preparation has not been completed, at the request of the Chief Minister, the Provincial Assembly Secretariat has sent a notice to the members of the Provincial Assembly that the meeting will be held at 7 pm.

Sources have said that the budget amount was wrangled between Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development throughout Saturday night and until Sunday morning. That's why the Ministry of Economic Affairs could not complete the budget preparation even by Sunday noon.

Provincial Policy and Planning Commission has determined the budget ceiling of 24 billion, but the budget of 31.47 billion is coming after Khichchatani, according to sources in the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The government had previously said that the budget would be between 29 and 30 billion.

An MP of the ruling party Congress said that there was a rift between Economic Affairs Minister Bahadur Singh Thapa, Physical Infrastructure Development Minister Surendra Bahadur Pal and Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah on Saturday night. According to those MPs, Physical Infrastructure Development Minister Pal, who has the largest budget, delayed the entry of the plan by saying that his ministry was short of budget.

Provincial Policy and Planning Commission gave a ceiling of 7.55 billion to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development. But since the ministry and any of the subordinate offices did not proceed with the work because the budget would be insufficient, the financial affairs department added 700 million. A source close to the ministry said that some amount was added on Saturday night after Minister Pal took a stand saying that even that would not be enough.

At that time, there was a fight between three people including the Chief Minister. Pal is the Physical Infrastructure Development Minister represented by UML, while Economic Affairs Minister Bahadur Singh Thapa and the Chief Minister are from Congress.
