The Sudurpaschim Province government has organized a preparatory conference (Pre-Summit) in Dhangadhi on Wednesday as part of the preparations for the Investment and Development Conference. The government is going to organize a conference on October 1st and 2nd.
Speaking at the preparatory conference, Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah asked the national and international donors to invest in Far West. "We are proud of the past, we are also welcoming the possibilities of the future," he said. Every citizen of Far West has a bright dream of development in his eyes.'
Stating that the investment and development conference will be a common conference of the Far West, Chief Minister Shah said that the identity of the Far West has changed now. "Yesterday we were only talking about backwardness, today we are trying to open the doors of development by talking about possibilities and opportunities," he said.
Chief Minister Shah said that the investment and development conference will prove to be a milestone in increasing cooperation between the three governments and exposing the vast potential of the Far West to the world.
With the concept of investment promotion, sustainable partnership, the government is going to call for investments by dividing agriculture, tourism, infrastructure development, energy, human capital, information and technology and service sectors . "Tax holidays, grants, land management, one-to-one system and construction of project banks are going to be implemented," Chief Minister Shah added.
The Chief Minister said that the Far West, which is considered to be a reservoir of hydropower, must be elevated from the existing multidimensional poverty indicator. Chief Minister Shah said that the government, all political parties, the private sector, experts and civil society are working hand in hand in the process of creating policies, laws and procedures to create an investment-friendly environment. Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba, who was the chief guest at the
program, said that the migration to the hills is a matter of great concern and said that Far West is an area with great potential for investment. Likewise, Industry, Commerce and Supply Minister Damodar Bhandari pointed out that potential areas of investment should be identified and prioritized by preparing a project list. Forest and Environment Minister Ain Bahadur Shahi, Nepal Director of Asian Development Bank Arnaud Karchios expressed their views in the
program. Likewise, the ambassadors of Australia and the UK, Executive Director of Investment Board Sushil Gyawali, World Bank, UNDP and other representatives were present.
