In charge of the Guide Bond Army destroyed by the floods of the Mahakali

The Nepali Army has started constructing the guide bond of the four-lane concrete bridge that was destroyed by the Mahakali river flood last year. After the District Disaster Management Committee recommended to declare the disaster area, according to the decision of the Council of Ministers, the Army has started the channelization work by channelizing the Mahakali River along with the reconstruction of the destroyed area.

By the decision of the Council of Ministers on June 6, it was decided to declare the area where the guide bond on the bank of the Mahakali river was damaged and work on it through the Nepali Army. Accordingly, the army has started the channelization work of the Mahakali river along with the guide bond.

Now Nepali army soldiers and officers are engaged in guide bond construction and channelization with equipment. The work is being done at a rapid pace from morning to evening. It has also raised the hope that the residents of the river bank will be protected from the risk of Mahakali flood to some extent.

"Currently, work is being done to build a guide bond and divert the river in the middle," said Nisanat Pandit Chhetri, chief engineer of the Nepali Army's engineer department.

From the military headquarters of the Nepali Army, soldiers have been deployed for this task. According to Chief Senani Pandit, the work is being done according to the approved design of the bridge project. For which 300 to 500 manpower and 18 to 20 backhoe loaders to tippers are being used.

In August last year, the flood in the Mahakali river destroyed the guide bond . After that, due to lack of variation, the guide bond could not be repaired . There is a design to build a 600 meter wide and 28/28 hundred meter long pond on both sides of the four-lane concrete bridge built on the Mahakali river. Accordingly, the guide bond was constructed according to the design approved two years ago.

was originally designed to make a guide bond from a large stone . The design was made as it was measured that the flow of the Mahakali river cannot carry stones weighing more than 250 kg. But after not getting big stones, it has been decided to change the design and make a palumb concrete guide bond.

According to this, in the last fiscal year, a guide bond of bridge palum concrete was made on both sides of the river . The guide bond towards Bhimdatta municipality east of the river was washed away by the flood of Mahakali river. The same 262 meters of guide bond and 2600 meters of river will have to be changed.

Kanchanpur district administration office had declared the area as a crisis even when the rain was approaching and there was no variation of the guide bond. Based on the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Council of Ministers has decided to mobilize the army and make a guide bond. The Council of Ministers decided on May 6 and the army started working from the 9th.  For

guide bonds and channelization, the Nepali Army has estimated that the budget will be 19 to 29 million. Chief District Officer of Kanchanpur Lakshman Dhakal said that 90 million budget has been allocated for that in the first phase.

"If the work is done in full phase, the work can be completed within the stipulated time (one month)," said Chief District Officer Dhakal, "Now there is a shortage of equipment, even the equipment in the private sector is not available due to the pressure of work."

Under construction of the four-lane bridge project on the Mahakali river, the concrete bridge construction work has been completed . The construction of the 8 km access road from Gaddachouki, the last point of the East-West Highway, to Malaria Nala in Dodhara Chandni has reached its final stage. The construction of ponds on both sides of the bridge has also been delayed due to design confusion.
