Adolescent friendly information center has been brought into operation at three local levels of the district. Adolescent Friendly Information Center has been conducted in various schools of Patan Municipality, Surnaya and Dilashaini Rural Municipality.
Vasudev Bista, senior branch manager of Nepal Family Planning Association, said that the information centers operating in all three municipalities have been handed over to the respective municipalities.
Kishore Kishorei Maitri Information Center provides information to students on many topics of sexual and reproductive health and comprehensive sexuality education, said Manju Bohra, vice president of Surnaya Rural Municipality. He said, 'Kishore Kishore Maitri Information Center is helping parents, teachers and students to remove misconceptions about sexual and reproductive health.'
Kishore Kishorei Mitri Information Center is being operated with the support of United Nations Population Fund, Australian Aid and Nepal Family Planning Association. But lately they have been handed over to the concerned municipality. Man Bahadur Chand, Chairman of Nepal Family Planning Association, Patan, emphasized the need for youth-friendly information centers in schools and that these centers should be continued. Santosh Prakash Joshi, Chairman of Dilashaini Rural Municipality, said that the
center will be operated continuously. He said, 'These centers will help to remove misconceptions about sexual and reproductive health, and the center will also play an important role in removing various harmful practices in the society.' For the
center, a separate room is arranged in the school and various curriculum materials are kept that can be studied on adolescent-friendly sexual and reproductive health issues. It is said that teenagers will openly discuss their problems at the center.
