Syaule settlement located in Amargadhi Municipality-1 of Dadeldhura has been suffering from water shortage for the past 3 weeks. As the water coming from the source, which is 14 km away, is not enough, queues have started for hours for drinking water at the local peak.

The GI pipe of the pipeline that regularly supplies water to about 775 households in Syaule and surrounding areas has been blocked. Most of the settlements of 1 and 2 of the municipality are dependent on the water source here.

The locals have been using water from the 'Shikhar Dhara' near the apple market as an alternative. Chandra Dayal, a local, said that they have to stand in line for hours to get a gallon of water.

According to Lok Bahadur Air, Ward Chairman of Amargadhi Municipality-1, it is difficult to solve technical problems immediately because the origin is far away.  "We have sent a technical team with a generator and started trying to repair the cracked GI pipe," said President Ayer, "the problem will be solved in a day or two." Schools, health posts and hotels have also been affected by the lack of water. Sanitation problems and health risks have increased with the lack of water in the slums.
