The Vegetable Germplasm Enhancement and Seed Production Center located in Amargadhi Municipality-3 has started producing hybrid seeds from this year. With the aim of providing quality hybrid seeds at the local level, this office, which has been producing original seeds of vegetables, has started hybrid seed production.

Established in 2043, this center has been producing original seeds of vegetables like banana, coriander, bean, cauliflower, banda, radish, and rye in the past. According to the head of

office, Tari Singh Thakurathi, the production of 'Sirjana' variety of Golbenda and 'Madhu' variety of cucumber seeds has been started here. "Initially, we have started the production of hybrid seeds of cucumber and cucumber under our own plan on a small scale," he said. At present, 38 plantations are producing seeds. This year, one and a half plants have been planted with cucumbers and 3 plants have been planted with cabbage. According to Asmita Dhakal, information officer of the office, the seeds produced here will be tested in the laboratory at Sundarpur in Kanchanpur and distributed to the farmers at affordable rates.

She said, "Currently, we have set a target of producing 10 kg of cucumber and 5 kg of golbenda seeds". If the test is successful, we will plant this seed in other districts of the Far West. She said that there is technical support from the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Agricultural Research Council Khumaltar and Agricultural Knowledge Center for seed production. Although there are currently 17 employees at the

center, only 7 employees are employed. Despite the lack of manpower, the center is working in all the nine districts of Far West. Information officer Dhakal says that most of the plans could not be implemented on time due to lack of staff.

"We have resources, we have land, but there are sometimes challenges due to the lack of technical manpower," said Dhakal. Radish and Radish root seeds being produced in the center are being sold to local levels, agricultural knowledge centers and local sellers and farmers.
