Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced about a decade ago to end load shedding by drawing electricity from the air. He was criticized by opposition political party workers after he announced to end load-shedding within a year and for that purpose electricity would be extracted from the air in his address to the nation on 27 October 2017. Became a troll on social media.

At that time, he had announced that 300 megawatts of electricity would be extracted from the air within a year. To turn his announcement into a reality, he also teamed up with the Alternative Energy Promotion Center at that time .

Theoretically based on the flow of wind, the process has progressed in many places of Nepal, studying the possibility of generating electricity from the wind by placing plants in Chure area, hilly Bhanjyang and Himalayan areas in Nepal. According to this, in the financial year 2072/073, in Kamalbazar of Acham, the project of generating electricity from the wind started at a cost of 20 crores with the help of alternative energy promotion center, Kamalbazar municipality and local people.  A total of 30 kilowatts of electricity was generated from 15 kilowatts of wind and 15 kilowatts of solar power. Krishna Grill Biratnagar who took over the

construction work and  Tebsun JV Company successfully tested it in December 2073 . As announced by Prime Minister Oli, the process of replying by his workers to those who criticized that electricity was extracted from the air in Bombal Bazar continued. But the project was closed within 3 years of completion.  According to the administrative officer of the municipality, Khadak Bista, 200 households in the market area were able to burn electricity extracted from the air until 2076. About 5,000 people benefited.  Currently, it has been 6 years since the project was closed. 

At that time, the people of Kamalbazar were greatly relieved because the central electricity line did not reach Kamalbazar. Kamal Bazar was closed after it was connected to the central electricity transmission,' said Bisht, 'it has been closed for a long time due to technical problems. The technical equipment kept at the project site has also been stolen. Maintenance has to be done.' According to him, the equipment that needs to be repaired for the technology of extracting electricity from the air should be brought from China. He said that if you invest about 2.5 million, you can get electricity from the air again. The project has been done with the joint investment of the Alternative Energy Promotion Center and the municipality. This is the property of the municipality. The issue of repair is being discussed," he said.

He said that discussions are being held on the matter of turning on electricity to government agencies including health institutions within the municipality by restarting electricity from the air. According to him, at that time, trained manpower was also prepared to operate the electricity.

Yagya Prasad Dhakal, Mayor of the city, said that since electricity had been blown from the wind in Kamalbazar before the election of the people's representative at the local level, the technical aspects, investment and coordination were not paid attention to. He said that in the next fiscal year, he is discussing for re-operation in collaboration with the Alternative Energy Promotion Center. "Discussions and collaboration are underway to re-operate the project in the coming year," he said.
