10 shops were completely gutted in the fire that broke out in Sanfehat Bazar, a major commercial center of Achham on Saturday morning.
The fire that started from the Suwechha Hotel located in Sanfebagar Municipality-3 at around 3:30 in the morning quickly engulfed the surrounding shops.
According to the local businessmen, the fire started from the hotel and destroyed the nearby grocery, clothing, mobile, fruit and other shops.
After the fire, locals, Nepal Police, Armed Police tried to control the fire. But due to the lack of fire extinguishers, there has been a delay in controlling the fire.
According to DSP Ishwari Prasad Bhandari, Chief of Police of Achham, the fire brigade of Mangalsen municipality was sent to Dhangadhi for repair and the fire could not be brought under control in time due to the delay in getting it from Doti.
'There has been no human loss. 10 shops have been destroyed by fire. The damage is being assessed," he said. "Many tin roofs have been burnt. The fire was brought under control after demolishing some shops using dozers, he said.
Earlier, on 26th Chaitra, a similar fire broke out in Jaigarh Bazar. In that incident, 35 shops were completely destroyed and the damage was more than 80 million.
Less than a month after the Jaigarh fire, another fire incident occurred in the district causing more than a dozen people to lose their lives and causing a loss of millions, panic has spread among the locals.
