UML's Achham district convention, which was pushed back for about one and a half years due to the controversy over whether former vice-president of CPN-UML Bhim Rawal will stay in the party, has been confirmed to be held on Saturday. At present, there is increasing activity in the headquarter of representatives from all 91 wards of Achham and various clusters.

After Rawal was expelled from the party, he is also a leader-activist of Kitta and is associated with Matrubhoomi Jagran Abhiyan . The district convention is about to be held after the 'kittakat' of UML leaders-activists near Rawal. As the conflict between UML and Rawal continued for a long time, many leaders-activists in the district were confused.

After the breakup of the CPN, many leaders of the then UML went to the Unified Socialist Party, and the UML is in more trouble now. Especially in Rawal's Constituency No. 1, UML has suffered a setback since the leaders of UML stood on different lines. Even after the split of CPN, UML had to bear a huge loss. Achham region number 1 had to bear the loss when Madhav Nepal's former district president and MP Sher Bahadur Kunwar, former mayor of Sanfebagar municipality and then influential leader of UML Kul Bahadur Kunwar went to CPN Samajwadi.

Sudurpaschim Province Committee member Dudhkala Bista, UML's influential leader Prakash Shah, Balgiri Kunwar and other leaders have joined the Matrubhumi Awakening Campaign in Rawal along with hundreds of activists.

Since many UML leaders-activists have already gone to CPN Samajwadi, the leaders are trying to elect the leadership unanimously so that there is no controversy. In order to strengthen UML Achham, which is divided into three parts, the leaders are under pressure to elect a unanimous leadership. But in the name of consensus, the UML leadership is also afraid that the angry leader-activist Bhim Rawal may go to Bhim Rawal if there is a situation where only the people close to the leader are allowed. Achham in-charge Japat Bohra, Yagya Bogti and Kamal Timilsaina, three central members are preparing for unanimous leadership selection.

The UML, which won both the provincial and representative assembly elections in 2074, was defeated in both the constituencies of Achham in the 2079 elections. UML is working hard to save its lost reputation. Although Rawal's name was singlely recommended from the district for the candidate for the member of the House of Representatives from Region No. 1, the UML could not unite for a long time in the district after UML President KP Sharma Oli nominated someone close to him as a candidate.

Central Secretary and Far West Incharge Lekhraj Bhatt has arrived at Achham to inaugurate the session to be held on Saturday. Chandra Bohra, who was elected as the district president in the first UML convention after the breakup of the CPN, is giving hints that he will repeat himself as the president. Bohra, who led the party in a difficult situation, is now being seen as a strong candidate. He is also known as a leader close to UML President Oli . 

In the previous convention, district president candidate Bohra on behalf of Oli and Prakash Shah on behalf of Rawal were in the election field . Chandra Bohra saved the party in a difficult situation where Bhim Rawal and his workers did not cooperate on the one hand and UML split into Samajwadi on the other. His first term ended amid ups and downs, now UML has a lump. In an easy situation, he should be given responsibility once again," said one of the high level leaders of UML, "The leadership from the district to the center also seems to be satisfied with him . Even if there is an election, it is estimated that Bohra will win. Another strong candidate who is lobbying for the district chairman is Shivprasad Upadhyay, a former provincial committee member and an influential leader of Achham. He is a direct candidate from Region No. 2 (B) in the state assembly election of 2079. He is preparing to take the district leadership anyway.

One of the popular names for the post of district president is Bhim Rawal 'Kalotopi', who is the current district secretary. Rawal, who emerged from student politics, has been increasing his popularity among the youth. He has presented himself as a strong candidate due to his leadership ability to cover all aspects.

"It is necessary to establish the leadership of the young generation in the party, strengthen internal unity and create opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship," Rawal said.

Hirend Bhattarai is also preparing as another candidate for district president. He was in Madhav Nepal Samajwadi Party. A year ago, he returned to UML .
