The police said that a young man who was found dead in the temple complex near the area police office in Attaria of Kailali was killed on the charge of stealing 400 rupees.

On March 29, 35-year-old Jagdish Kaini, a resident of Dadeldhura, was found dead in the premises of the Durga temple in Attaria. The body was found in an extremely unrecognizable condition. On Thursday, the local police office announced the details of the incident through a press conference.

According to the police, Hemanta Bahadur Bohra of Dilasaini rural municipality of Baitadi was arrested during the investigation of the incident. The police claim that he confessed to killing Kaini.

According to DSP Ganga Bahadur Thapa, head of the Malakheti Attaria area police office, the murder was related to the loss of 400 rupees. On the night of 26 Chait, the deceased Kaini and the accused Bohra were sleeping in the Durga temple premises, said DSP Thapa. According to the police, he was killed in the temple and the body was dragged and thrown in the empty land behind the temple. Bohra, who is also an ex-armed policeman, was working in various hotels in Attaria and Dhangadhi areas. After the incident, he went to Dhangadhi and worked there for a week at Chaulani Hotel. The police arrested him while he was drinking while he was returning to Attaria after leaving the hotel on Wednesday.

The incident was investigated by a seven-member team led by DSP Thapa of the local police office, Malakheti. Deputy Inspector Sushil Chand and Padam Thapa from Sudurpaschim Province Police Office also participated in the investigation team.
