The first Sudurpaschim Province Karate Tournament 2081 has started in Dhangadhi from today under the organization of Sudurpaschim Karate Federation.
The competition was inaugurated by Kamal Bahadur Shah, the Chief Minister of the Far West Province Government.
The competition will be held till tomorrow 29th, with the presence of 700 players, coaches and judges from all the nine districts of Far West.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Chief Minister Shah mentioned that despite the limited budget, the provincial government is increasing investment in the sports sector. He also said that the provincial government is firm in the development and promotion of sports. In the
program, the founding president of the Karate Federation, Dawa Gurung, urged the players to move forward with clear goals and inspired them to build the future with strong preparation. Dilliraj Pant, a member of the House of Representatives, emphasized that the players should become not only big people but also good people. At the
ceremony, Chairman of Kailali District Sports Committee and international karate player Lalit Khatri was declared the best male player and international karate player Varsha Saund was declared the best female player. Similarly, Babarjung Shahi was honored as the best volunteer coach while Karna Bahadur Chand was given the 'Life Time Achievement Award'.
All the four honored personalities were honored with cash prizes.
