Lal Bahadur Khadka has been elected as the President of CPN (Unified Socialist) Sudurpaschim Province. Khadka is also a former minister of the state government.

After a tug-of-war, a unanimous provincial committee was elected under the leadership of Khadka in the first Far West Province convention that lasted for three days. Earlier Hark Bahadur Singh was the state president. 

In the newly elected committee, Dhan Bahadur Bohra and Shiv Bahadur Kunwar have been elected as vice presidents, Surendraman Karki as secretary, Ganesh Saund, Radhika Awasthi and Gorakh Saraki as deputy secretaries. 

President Khadka has said that the first meeting of the newly elected committee has also formed an 18-member secretariat.
