A Nepali worker returning home from Shimla, India to celebrate New Year has been robbed again on the way. 40-year-old Netra Bahadur Kami of Chowkune rural municipality-7 of Surkhet was knocked unconscious on the road and robbed.
He walked from Shimla on Monday and met two Nepalis while having dinner in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. They said that the house is Jajarkot and asked to go together. Then he also boarded the bus from Haridwa to the border market Banbasa with them . After traveling for some time from Haridwar, they gave him cold drink Fanta . After drinking Fanta, he fainted .
"I had sent all my earnings home, I only kept travel expenses, and that was stolen," he said, who was found in a semi-conscious state at Gaddachouki on Wednesday.
On Wednesday morning, he reached Banbasa in an unconscious state and was taken to the border by the security personnel there. After seeing him unconscious on the road, he was rescued by Nepali security personnel.
After slowly regaining consciousness, he has now been sent home after managing the expenses. The civil assistance cell established in Gaddachouki has managed the cost of reaching home.
He worked at an apple store in Shimla and left home after Dasain. Daily wages of 400 were received. He used to send expenses to the house every month . Even a month ago, after the relatives returned home, he sent the expenses . He said that he was saved from many robberies because he kept only travel expenses for himself.
As the new year approaches, the crowd of Nepali workers returning home has started to increase. During Dasain-Tihar and New Year, there is a crowd of people returning home, and this is when there is an increase in the number of drug-fueled robberies. Especially, there are many incidents of Nepalis approaching them and robbing them.
