Rain and snow in the Far West after a long drought

Since Thursday night, it has been raining and snowing in the far western hilly districts including Bajhang. After incessant rains, traffic has been disrupted due to a landslide on the Tamil Jalebagar road section of Jai Prithvi Highway.

The landslide that occurred on Thursday night in Baluwatar and Jalebagar areas of Chabispathivera was removed on Friday morning and traffic was operated for a while. The district police office has informed that the traffic was blocked after another landslide occurred at the same place in the afternoon.

District Police Chief DSP Yuvraj Bhandari informed that the road division office and the dozers of Jayaprithvi Municipality are trying to clear the landslide. "The dozer has been kept on standby since the morning," he said. It is opening and blocking from time to time.' 

Locals of Bajhang, Bajura, Doti, Dadeldhura, Darchula, Baitadi in Far West facing drought for a long time are happy after the rain. Snowfall has also started from Friday morning in high hills and Himalayan areas. 

Bajhang has experienced snowfall in Surma, Saipal, Diyanot, Mashta, Chhabispathivera, Thalara, Kedarsyun, Durgathali, Bitthadchir rural municipality and high hilly areas of Jaipruthvi and Bungal municipalities . More than one foot of snow has accumulated in Dhuli, Kanda and other areas of Saipal. Similarly, there is thick snow in Khaptad National Park. Dinesh Khadka, game scout of the park office, said that snowfall has started in Khaptad since yesterday evening and two feet of snow has frozen in some places. Snowfall continues through Friday afternoon. 

Locals have said that there has been snowfall in Gaumul, Budhinanda, Himali and other rural villages of Bajura. Along with the rain, snowfall has also occurred in Gwallek Khodpe, Anarkhali, Dholyamod, Sigas, Melauli and other high-lying places of Baitadi .

Doti's Gara, Saukhark, Dadeldhura's Hagult have also been informed by locals. Deepak Bohra of Bajhang Saipal said, "Since there was no rain, the winter crops were already drying up in the fields. "Even though it was late, the snow fell. Now there is hope that the plant will grow.'

Daily wage earners, children and the elderly have been affected as the cold increased with snowfall and rain. Galpo Lhosar of Tamang community has also been affected. Janu Tamang of Saipal told that everyone gathered in one place and did not enjoy it.
