An adult elephant was found dead in Laljhadi rural municipality 4 Persia of Kanchanpur. A male elephant was found dead near the settlement on Wednesday morning.
"The death of the elephant is suspicious, nothing can be said now," said Dinesh Yadav, Forest Officer of Sub Division Forest Office, Kunda, "There are no visible injuries."
According to him, a team of veterinarians has been called from Mahendranagar Veterinary Specialist Hospital for the post-mortem of the elephant. The last rites will be performed only after the post-mortem.
Forest Officer Yadav said that an elephant was found dead in a wheat field in a settlement between Lalzhadi Mohana Protected Area and Shuklaphanta National Park. According to him, the elephant may have died on Tuesday night.
