After the death of an infant in Baitadi, the road was blocked demanding compensation

After the death of an infant in Dilasaini Rural Municipality of Baitadi, the locals have blocked the road demanding compensation. Locals blocked the Gokuleshwar-Ganna-Latinath road after the suspicious death of a vaccinated infant on Wednesday afternoon.

Local Dhruv Rana said that the two-month-old son of Mukesh Rana of Chhepatta, Dilasaini Rural Municipality-2, Adarsh, died suspiciously. He vaccinated the deceased child at 12 noon on Wednesday at Simar Birthing Center located in Dilasaini-3. Adarsh got sick while being vaccinated and died on the way while being taken to Dadeldhura hospital for treatment.

According to Dhruv, Adarsh was given the second dose of DPT and the first dose of PCV under the regular vaccination program. OPV and rota doses were given. After that, Adarsh developed fever from 3 pm and started salivating at night, and was taken to Gokuleshwar Hospital for treatment. He informed that he died on the way while being taken to Dadeldhura hospital as there was no treatment there.

Sanju Bohra, in-charge of Rudreshwar Health Chowki located in Dilasaini-3, informed that doses of the same description were given to some children the previous day as well and there was no problem, but in the case of Adarsh, the incident is suspicious. Locals also informed the health office Baitadi that the child died due to vaccination. However, the health office said that the cause of death will be revealed only after the post-mortem of the body.

The road has been blocked because of the child's death due to vaccination given at the birthing center. Local Dhruva informed that this incident should be investigated fairly and the road was blocked demanding compensation to the relatives of the deceased child.
