Gopal Hamal, mayor of Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city, is being treated at Max Superspeciality Hospital in Delhi, India. Hamal's health condition is stable and he has been kept in the intensive care unit, the family said.

Hamal's brother Shyam Hamal, who is taking care of him, said that his necessary laboratory tests are being done now. "The doctors have informed us that they will know by tomorrow what the surgery or what else will be done," Shyam Hamal said Hamal's condition did not improve after being admitted to the hospital, and he was taken to Delhi for further treatment on Saturday.
