Forest and Environment Minister Ain Bahadur Shahi has said that preparations are being made to create a protected area to protect the biological diversity of the Badimalika area.
Badimalika area in Bajura is a famous religious and tourist area. Conservation workers say that the Badimalika area, which is rich in biological diversity, is suffering from lack of protection and human encroachment in recent years.
Without any study, the road is currently being constructed from Bajura headquarters Martadi to Badimalika area by running dozers. "Operating a dozer in a large area means developing the biological diversity of that area," say conservationists.
In a press conference held in Dhangadhi on Saturday, Minister Shahi said that there will be a legal process to make Badimalika a protected area and necessary discussions have been started for that. "Discussions are underway for the plan to make Badimalika a protected area in next year's program," Minister Shahi said, "For this, more processes will be carried out in coordination with the local level of the relevant area."
