The fifth and final meeting held on Wednesday under the special session of the Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly directed the government to provide relief and compensation to the residents of the province who suffered from natural disasters including the floods and landslides that occurred after the incessant rains that occurred last June.

In Wednesday's meeting, UML's Santosh Sharma Thapa, Dharmaraj Pathak, Daman Bhandari, Congress' Vikramsingh Dhami, Bel Bahadur Rana Magar, United Socialists' Prakash Rawal and RPP's Khemadevi Bista drew the attention of the government to provide relief and compensation to the families affected by the June rains and landslides.

Minister of Internal Affairs Hira Sarki responded to the demands of the provincial assembly members. After that, Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari presented the instructions to be given to the government for relief and compensation in the assembly for decision. The proposal presented by the speaker was passed unanimously. While the special session was going on, the outgoing chief minister, Ghilg Bahadur Sodari, resigned.

Provincial Chief Minister Nazir Mian has ended the special session from Wednesday night on the recommendation of the government along with the instructions given by the state assembly to the government.

The special session started on July 8th at the request of the then opposition parties Nepali Congress and UML. After the end of the budget session on July 3, 20 parliamentarians of the opposition parties Congress and UML wrote a written request to state chief Mian on July 4 to convene a session according to Article 183 (3) of the constitution saying that it is necessary to give instructions to the government regarding disaster and relief issues. On the same day, the provincial chief called a special session. This is the first time that a special session has been called in Far West.
