At the World Cup, 40-year-old goalkeeper Bozhinha, who became a hero, is set to sign with Chile’s major club Colo Colo. “Bozhinha is preparing to become a Colo Colo player.

He will arrive in Chile soon, undergo the necessary medical tests, and then be presented at the local Monumental Stadium,” Colo Colo club president Aníbal Mosa told reporters on Friday.

Bozhinha put in a heroic performance in the goalless draw against World Cup champions Spain in the group stage and in the 3–2 extra-time defeat to runners-up Argentina in the knockout stage.

The goalkeeper’s full name is Josimar José Évora Dias. He played for Chaves, a second division club in Portugal. However, he did not sign his first professional contract until the age of 26. He has also played in Cyprus, Slovakia, Moldova, and Angola.

“He is in very good form, so we are signing him,” said Mosa. “We are preparing to welcome Bozhinha.” The club has not disclosed the contract amount. Along with the World Cup, Bozhinha has also become a social media star. The goalkeeper’s Instagram followers have risen from 50,000 to nearly 30 million.

Colo Colo, who have been Chilean champions 34 times, are currently leading the table midway through the season. This is Chile’s biggest club. For now, Bozhinha’s contract is said to be for 18 months.
