Croatia took the lead in the 53rd minute through Ivan Perisic. He headed a cross from Josip Stanisic into the box towards the post. His shot hit the post but was offside. Ronaldo's goal was also ruled out for offside.
Ronaldo converted a penalty in the 68th minute. Portugal got a chance to get back into the game after Nikola Vlasic brought down Renato Viega in his box. Ronaldo easily converted the penalty.
