Kathmandu has won the title of the third Bagmati Province Sports Competition-2083.
Kathmandu has become the champion by winning a total of 131 medals, including 51 gold, 38 silver and 42 bronze, in the competition organized by the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council since Asad 30.
Although Lalitpur also won a total of 131 medals, equal to Kathmandu, it was limited to second place due to fewer gold medals. Lalitpur has won 46 gold, 41 silver and 44 bronze medals. Chitwan has come third with a total of 85 medals, including 30 gold, 28 silver and 27 bronze. The first, second and third districts have received trophies along with 1 lakh, 75 thousand and 50 thousand rupees respectively.
On the last day of the competition, i.e. Tuesday, the final match of men's and women's football was held. Chitwan won the title in the men's category while Kathmandu became the champion in the women's category. Kathmandu won the title by defeating Chitwan 1-0 in the women's final held at the Pipley Stadium in Hetauda-5 on Tuesday morning.
The title-winning Kathmandu players received Rs 5,000 each and the runners-up Chitwan players received Rs 4,000 each. In the women's category, Manisha Ale Magar of Kathmandu was declared the best player of the tournament. She received Rs 20,000. Kathmandu's Jharana Nagarkoti was declared the best goalkeeper, Sajita Koirala the best defender and Devendra Jung Shahi the best coach. Chitwan's Sushila KC was declared the best midfielder and Pratiksha Thakuri the best forward.
Similarly, in the men's final held at the Gauritar Stadium in Hetauda on Tuesday, Chitwan won the title by defeating Makwanpur in a tiebreaker. In the men's category, Abhishek Bholan of Makwanpur was declared the best player of the tournament. He received Rs 20,000.
Chitwan's Manoj Gurung was declared the best goalkeeper, Bikal Tamang the best defender, Salil Dhakal the best forward and Suman Shrestha the best coach. Makawanpur's Sujan Gurung was declared the best midfielder.
Kavrepalanchok came in fourth place with 58 medals including 22 gold, 18 silver and 18 bronze. Bhaktapur won 75 medals including 17 gold, 22 silver and 36 bronze, Makawanpur won 53 medals including 11 gold, 10 silver and 32 bronze, Sindhupalchok won 10 gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze, and Nuwakot won 42 medals including 9 gold, 13 silver and 20 bronze.
Similarly, Dhading won 40 medals including 9 gold, 10 silver and 21 bronze. Ramechhap won 8 gold, 3 silver and 21 bronze medals, Sindhuli won 2 gold, 11 silver and 22 bronze medals, Rasuwa won 2 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals, and Dolakha won 1 gold, 3 silver and 14 bronze medals.
All 13 districts of Bagmati Province participated in the competition. Players competed for a total of 744 medals, including 217 gold, 214 silver and 311 bronze medals, in 15 different sports categories. A total of 2,707 players, including 1,515 men and 1,192 women, participated in the competition. The games of the competition were held at various sports venues in Hetauda, Chitwan, Lalitpur and Kathmandu.
The winning players and districts of the competition were awarded by Urmila Nepal, Minister for Youth and Sports of the Bagmati Province Government, Deepak Lama, Member Secretary of the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council, and others.
