England have made a winning start to the 2026 World Cup. Inspired by two goals from Harry Kane, England defeated Croatia 4-2 in a Group L match in Dallas, USA, on Wednesday.

Croatia had beaten England in the knockout stages on their way to the 2018 finals. But Croatia's golden generation, including Luka Modric, failed to replicate that performance in their last chance to win the World Cup.

England had taken the lead against Croatia in the 12th minute through Harry Kane's penalty. But Martin Biuturina scored in the 36th minute to level the score at 1–1. Kane's goal in the 42nd minute gave England the lead again.

But Peter Musa scored in the fifth minute of the first half to level Croatia at 2–2. Jude Bellingham scored in the third minute after the break to give England the lead again. Marcus Rashford scored England's fourth goal in the 85th minute.
