Brazil and Morocco drew in their previous match. The win at Boston Stadium boosted Scotland's chances of reaching the knockout stages.
The only goal of the game was scored by John McGinn in the 28th minute after the drinks break. Scotland are playing in their first World Cup in 28 years and McGinn's goal will have historic significance.
The opening match at Boston Stadium was a mixed bag for both teams. Scotland's Scott McTominay's shot hit the post in the 17th minute.
Scotland also became the first European nation to win the World Cup.
