Nepal has reached the final of the Asian Games Men's Twenty20 Qualifiers. Nepal defeated Oman by 8 wickets in the semi-finals of the ongoing tournament in Singapore on Sunday. Oman, who won the toss and elected to bat, were all out for 94 runs in 19.4 overs. Despite losing openers Kushal Bhurtel and Asif Sheikh early on, Nepal achieved the target in 9.2 overs. Bhurtel scored 20 runs in 8 balls with 3 fours and 1 six, while Asif was out for 1 run in the second over with a gap of 3 balls. Lokesh Bam and Rohit Poudel gave Nepal a comfortable victory. The two added an unbeaten 68 runs in 45 balls for the third wicket, helping Nepal win the match within 10 overs at the Singapore National Cricket Ground. Lokesh remained unbeaten on 44 and Rohit scored 21 runs. Lokesh hit 7 fours and 1 six in 26 balls and Rohit hit 2 fours in 20 balls.
Earlier, Karan KC had given Nepal a great start by dismissing Suayb Al Balushi and Naved Al Balushi for ducks in consecutive balls in the third over. Oman reached 9-3 in the fourth over after Kushal Malla dismissed Mohammad Al Balushi for 9 runs.
Zubair Al Balushi and captain Sufyan Mehmood shared a 35-run partnership for the fourth wicket, which was the highest partnership from Oman. Zubair scored 22 runs with 5 fours in 14 balls and Sufyan scored 38 runs with 2 fours and 1 six in 42 balls. Apart from these two, the other player who scored double scores was Abdul Jalil. He scored 16 runs with 2 fours and 1 six in 14 balls.
Karan took 3 wickets. He conceded 1 run in 4 overs, keeping 1 maiden. Sompal Kami and Sandeep Lamichhane took 2 wickets each, conceding 26 and 19 runs in 4 overs respectively. Kushal Malla, Shahab Alam and captain Deependra Singh Airi took 1 wicket each.
Nepal will play the final on Monday against the winner of the second semi-final between Hong Kong and Malaysia, which is playing on Sunday.
