Sahales Youth Club of Siraha has won the inaugural match of the 18th edition of the Shahid Bhim Narayan Memorial Cup Football Tournament, which started on Sunday.

Sahales defeated Rastriya Jagriti Football Club Itahari in the tournament organized at Tallo Tundikhel in Dhankuta. After both teams failed to score in the scheduled 90 minutes and extra time, the match was decided by a trybreaker.

Sahales Youth Club defeated Rastriya Jagriti 4-3 in an exciting trybreaker and started the tournament with a win. For Sahales, Diwakar Chaudhary, Phaguram Tharu, Debit To Messi and Sujan Dangol scored goals, while Roman Bhujel's shot went off the post.

Niwas Phuyal, Dorje Tamang and Kelvin scored goals for Rastriya Jagriti. Sujan Chaudhary's shot went off the post, while Olabi Fiz's shot was saved brilliantly by Sahales' goalkeeper.

The organizers have announced that the prize money for the winning team of this year's tournament has been increased from Rs 500,000 to Rs 600,000. The runner-up team will receive Rs 300,000.

The tournament will start from Sunday and will run until Jestha 16. On Monday, Gaighat Football Club Udayapur and Birtamod Football Club Jhapa will compete.

This tournament has been organized continuously since 2055 BS in memory of martyr Bhim Narayan Shrestha, who was executed by the then state in the Koshi Tappu region on Magh 26, 2035 BS.
