Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and Global IME Bank have emerged champions in the 15th Employees' Sports Tournament in Futsal. Civil Aviation won the men's and Global IME Bank won the women's titles.
In the men's final on Sunday, Civil Aviation defeated defending champion Krishi Bikas Bank by 6-1 goals. Mahesh Shah of Civil Aviation scored 4 goals and Basant Nagarkoti scored 2 goals.
In the women's title match, Global IME defeated Lumbini Bikas Bank by 3-2 goals in a tiebreaker. The match ended in a 1-1 draw in the regular time. This is Global's first participation.
The top three teams in the men's division received prizes of 55,000, 33,000 and 22,000 rupees respectively. The winner in the women's division received 35,000 and the runner-up 25,000 rupees.
In the men's division, Rajkumar Niraula of Krishi was the best player, Sankit Regmi of Civil Aviation was the best goalkeeper and Mahesh Shah of Civil Aviation (10 goals) was the top scorer. Lumbini's Divya Bista was named the best player and top scorer in the women's category. Divya scored 11 goals throughout the competition. Global IMEC's Keshamaya Gurung was declared the best goalkeeper.
In the competition organized by the Employees Sports Foundation Nepal (ISHAN), 14 gold medals were won in 4 sports including futsal, badminton, table tennis and chess.
In badminton, Krishi Bikas Bank won 2 gold medals and Electricity, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Ncell and NTC won 1 gold medal each. In table tennis, Everest Bank and Nepal Airlines Corporation won 2 gold medals and Civil Aviation won 1 gold medal. Nepal Airlines Corporation's Dipendra Thakur won the chess championship. Cash prizes were awarded to the medal winners in all sports.
The winners were felicitated by Chief Advisor to the Minister Siddhi Byanjanakar, President of ISHAN Ram Binay Shrestha, President of Nepal Badminton Association Ramji Bahadur Shrestha, Advisor to ISHAN Kul Bahadur Acharya, among others.
